Teenagers don’t come with an instruction manual, from fighting at school to a teenager’s defiance, or a regular homework routine. Parents have plenty to contend with on a day to day basis. There are no hard-and-fast rules for parenting but it is surprising how many problems have very simple solutions.
“We get launched into parenthood with the expectation that we know what we are doing and the whole thing’s a given. But growing a small human is tricky, and helping them grow themselves into bigger humans can be a serious challenge.” (Shona, Family Support Team Leader)
The Triple P Course we deliver at The Door is specifically designed for parents of teenagers. Groups work through the nine week course including teaching, discussion and phone support.
“The course gives parents the practical tools and easy to understand strategies that make parenting a bit less ‘trial and error’. ”
This gift will be used where it is most needed in The Door’s Family Support Service.
