Places are filling quickly for the Stroud Charity Raft Race 2019! Raising Money for The Door and the Cotswold Canals Trust

The Race taking place on Sunday 15th September from Wallbridge Lock to Capel’s Mill starts at 11am and spaces a filling up fast.

So far teams are taking part from across the country with many Travis Perkins teams returning to beat last year’s times. Others are returning from AD Taylor, LB-Bentley, Gloucestershire Firefighters and Cotswold Boatmobility. Also joining in the fun are teams Outsource Safety Limited, EDP, The Bell at Selsley, Renewables First Ltd and BBC Radio Gloucestershire’s Faye Hatcher.

There’s a new challenge for everyone this year too. Courtesy of the Stroud Canoe Club there will be slalom course at Capel’s Mill, just to see how well you can really manoeuvre those rafts. Remember this is a timed race so you will have plenty of room….

Winners on the day will be rewarded not just with the pride but with handcrafted unique awards designed and built by the Cotswold Canals Trust Western Depot team.

Race Coordinator Shelley Anderson from the Cotswold Canals Trust said: “A special thanks to our Major Sponsor, Renishaw, for supporting this year’s raft race and allowing us to grow this fun-filled event. Financial support in this way makes a huge difference to the charities that will benefit from the monies raised by the teams. Many thanks also to Travis Perkins for helping out with facilities on the day (as well as participating in the race!) and to John Stayte Services for allowing us to use their carpark”

Race Coordinator Anne Townsend from The Door Youth Project Said “We are thrilled to have so many teams registered already for this year’s race and we are really looking forward to another spectacular event! It’s going to be an amazing sight the creativity of the raft builders always exceeds expectation last year we had everything from a long boat to daffodils!”
