The Door was a hive of activity leading up to our ‘Big Weekend’ (11th-13th Dec) collection buckets, display boards and second-hand books could be found just about everywhere! Here is a bit more about what we have been getting up to…

The weekend started on Friday morning with the delivery of hundreds of donated books to Sainsbury’s in Stroud, ready and waiting to be snapped up by customers. The books were available throughout the whole weekend and raised a whopping  £880 in donations! As well as the books, Friday also included a performance from Stroud Methodist Church’s band; Second String.

On Saturday, the music continued with a Band and Choir from Stroud Christian Fellowship in Sainsbury’s as well as a Choir from The Church Of The God Of The Prophecy. 25 volunteers from The Door, local churches and Rotary clubs took part in our record breaking collection with donations totaling over £700 – almost double what we raised in September!

The Weekend came to a close on Sunday evening with our annual ‘Christmas Presence’ concert which was organised in partnership with Ignition Gloucestershire. St Laurence Church in Stroud was filled with festive spirit thanks to performances from singer songwriter Chris Eaton, Jazz Singer Abby Scott and Jonathan Trim’s ensemble orchestra. It was a great way to start our Christmas Celebrations.

From all of the Fundraising Team at The Door, a big thank you to all the volunteers for their time over the last year, thank you to everyone that has donated their pennies, sponsored or attended an event in order to raise funds for The Door and a very Happy Christmas! See you all in the New Year!

Big Weekend = Big Success!
