Well the summer’s nearly over but our Youthwork department is as busy as ever….

We are going through some new and exciting changes which are going to expand our on current services:

New youthwork delivery in Dursley and Cam

Firstly – we are really pleased to have secured a two year commission to work in the Dursley and Cam community for the next two years. This change will increase our youth work delivery significantly across the whole project. We were delivering nine sessions per week, this will increase to eighteen youth work sessions per week. The sessions will be a mixture of drop in based youth work, detached youth work and Focussed intervention work specifically around education and employment support for those aged 16-25.

Welcome Sam

To meet this need we are pleased to announce Sam Martin is our new Community worker for Dursley and Cam. Sam had been with us for the last year delivering the AWOL (another way of life) health and well-being program and will be a great addition to the team.

New Opening times and service delivery in Stroud

Over the last year we have planned and now decided to split our youth work services to become more age appropriate. Over the last 24 years we have provided an open assess youth work service for 11-25 year olds. As times and needs have changed and developed we feel it is necessary to take the step to provide a youth work service for those aged  11-17 and another for those aged 16-25.

The 11-17 service delivery will continue to provide a safe place for young people to be with their friends. For those 16-25 we offer the opportunity to assess a more focused intervention support service around a specific topic, whether this is education or employment or, budgeting, housing or health and wellbeing.

We look forward to sharing with you in our next edition how all these new changes are going.
